A very busy weekend

Yesterday HART assisted in serving yet another warrant and seized 15 more miniature horses from a site in Sheridan. These minis were living in horrid conditions with no reprieve from the mud and feces. They were all crammed in a small barn and left to fend for themselves and fight for what little food was provided for them. They are all covered with lice, mange and fleas, their feet were allowed to grow to horrible lengths. I’m afraid that some of the horse’s feet are beyond saving.

I have already had a farrier out to help me trim the worse of the feet and I will be able to get the balance of them done myself this week. The ones that we did yesterday were so long that we had to use a sawzall to cut through them. Below are a few photographs, be forewarned, they are graphic in nature.

Of course this all means that we need more donations of lice dust, wormer, equine senior and volunteer time to help bathe, brush, lice, trim, shave etc. 15 ponies. These little girls will be available for adoption as soon as they are stabilized, please pass the word.

Typical hoof condition-can you imagine?

This poor old mare could not stand, she was so weak

The only way to identify them was by numbering their butts

Sheriffs serving warrant and inspecting the horrible conditions-

Arrival at HART

Trimmings from just 7 of horses-oh my!

HART has stepped into the void and now has 40 horses in care.

Have left my name and number with Deputy Hoy of the Yamhill County Sheriff's office. Please let me know if you need help caring for any of these horses. I live on 7 1/2 fenced acres with a three stall barn in Banks.

Just found your blog by querying on HART from the KGW news article.

I'm anxious to see photos of the individual horses. Poor babies!

Can we help with the care, grooming, etc. of these horses? We could come in this weekend to provide a few additional hands to help out. We own a our own horse and could certainly provide an experience hand.

Please email me at amy@thejudsons.com.

Thank you,
Amy
